Your Driver
Kevin Spitzer arrived to the northern New Mexico area in January 2014. He purchased a plot at ‘The Village of Shining Stones’, an off-grid intentional artist community envisioned by Ehama Institute founders, WindEagle and RainbowHawk Litton, in the beautiful and majestic Piedra Lumbre basin. Completely inspired by the land and people of northern New Mexico, he fell deeply in love with the rich history, art, culture, and poetic sensibilities he found here.
After arriving in northern New Mexico and wondering what life would offer him in the way of livelihood, he quickly recognized a need for a shuttle service to bring people to the Abiquiu area. With two teaching centers on either side of his ‘Village of Shining Stones’ homestead, he heard tales of difficulty in getting to the Piedra Lumbre area with ease and flow. This eventually led to the creation of ‘White Buffalo Specialty Shuttle Service’ which is still expanding its range of service to the larger northern New Mexico community.
Before his endeavors with White Buffalo, Kevin enjoyed 35 years in the Santa Cruz, California area working as a General Building Contractor since 1982, a volunteer radio programmer at KZSC since 2000, and a longtime activist for creating a sane and just world. He is also an avid writer, extremely creative, enjoys people immensely, gardens, is enthusiastic about homesteading, still loves the creative process of building, while dreaming the future and bringing ideas down to earth. Excitement includes riding his BMW motorcycle, kayaking, discovering new places while hiking and rock hunting, plus most any outdoor activity.
Kevin desires to share his life skills, talents, and gifts for the enhancement of surrounding communities in Rio Arriba County and beyond. His shuttles become fun, informal history and geology tours, filled with stories and local insight. Kevin delights in answering questions and sharing his deep appreciation for New Mexico.
